Reverend Doug Copeland, Co-Executive Director

Ina Mae and Doug marvel at how their life and career experiences contribute to their ministry today. Ina Mae’s experience in social work for state and federal government provides valuable tools for helping people in the community. Doug, who retired from a 20-year Air Force Career in 1983, worked for a dozen years as a tour coordinator and driver and then became a supervisor for America West Airlines. “Everything we have done up to now has culminated in this ministry,” Doug says. “I even know how to keep our four vans running.”

The Copelands are committed to cross-cultural ministry. Valley Christian Centers provides comprehensive ministry: senior citizens can receive training in computer skills and young people can get help with homework in the after-school program. Financial counseling and job development accompany modest assistance with utility, rent or medical bills. In addition to daily food distributions, about 200 grocery boxes are delivered to seniors at home each month. A basketball court donated by the Phoenix Suns, dedicated in July 2005, enhances recreational programs for youth.
